Environmental Education Services
Outreach Education
Groundwork Solent provides a range of outreach education sessions covering areas of the Science, Geography and Citizenship curriculum.
These sessions are traditionally delivered in a classroom setting but may be adapted to allow larger groups to take part in assemblies or as collaborative classes.
We are also able to design bespoke sessions using environmental issues to support other areas of the National Curriculum including Maths, English and Drama.

Woodmill Education
Groundwork Solent is working in partnership with Woodmill Activity Centre in Southampton to provide Environmental Education and Survival Activities on the Woodmill site.
Early Years
Using 'Forest School' techniques developed by experienced staff Groundwork will work with Children in a series of developmental activities designed to encourage personal awareness and confidence outdoors. From Heuristic play to playing with fire (safely) we will allow your group to gain a range of experiences rarely offered for the footsteps curriculum.
Key Stage 1 and 2
In half day sessions your group will have the opportunity to get the best of what the Woodmill site has to offer. You may choose to experience the minibeasts of the site, searching the ponds, woods and parkland to see what you may find, or take a more artistic approach, using the resources available to create sculptures or stories.
Alternatively you may wish to contact us for a bespoke session.
Key Stage 2 and 3
As well as adaptations of the Science and Artistic sessions (above) Groundwork offers a range of survival courses, providing support for the citizenship curriculum.
Ideal as team building sessions for schools and as well as out of school clubs groups will learn the techniques required to survive in the wild.

Teacher training
Groundwork is able to offer training for teachers in planning and running outdoor sessions. This may be as a half day or full day option dependent on your requirements.
Half day
Covering the basics of health and safety outdoors and risk assessment your school staff will learn to use your grounds as a dynamic new classroom, however big or small they may be.
Full day
Still including health and safety and risk assessments your group will also have the opportunity to learn some activities to engage young people in learning in the outdoors and gain some of the technical skills to identify and catalogue what they may find.
